DAMAI
∼ Designed by Award-winning Japanese Designers, Super Potato ∼ Singapore, 26 September 2008 – Grand Hyatt Singapore is delighted to announce the launch of its brand-new spa and fitness centre, Damai, which was designed to become known as a lifestyle venue and set a new refreshing standard for spa and fitness facilities in Singapore.
The word ‘Damai’ is defined as meaning “peace”, and this lifestyle club will offer guests particularly uplifting spa facilities, making it a haven for the mind and soul, as well as a location for total body rejuvenation where one can achieve personal goals in wellness. Damai offers natural and specially created spa treatments to pamper and purify with exotic and exclusive spa products while also housing a fully equipped workout centre using the Technogym® Wellness System.
Damai features uplifting design by the renowned team of Super Potato from Japan. “We hold the designers at Super Potato in extremely high regard and their work with other Hyatt Pure spas have received outstanding customer response. We are confident that Damai will be another fine example of their ability to marry aesthetically inspiring design with comfort, creativity and functionality,” says Mr. Willi Martin, Area Vice President, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, and General Manager of Grand Hyatt Singapore.
The design component of Damai incorporates a blend of natural materials from the region, while a play of neutral colours, subtle textures, mood lighting and personally selected sound contribute to the total experience. The deck timber used is of finest grade Yellow Balau with legal certification complying with the World Wildlife Fund’s legal timber procurement policy. Damai will be the first spa to utilize this timber which has undergone a scientific DNA-based, legal tracking system which also scored well recently on a Green Peace report.
Each of the 11 exclusively designed treatment rooms has its own water feature and outdoor garden, giving guests the feeling of direct contact with nature. A Couples’ Room features an indoor stone tub overlooking a private outdoor water terrace with an open skylight, while a wet treatment sanctuary comprises a specially designed Chinese aji stone bed and healing area based on water therapies. Super Potato has incorporated the use of custom-made earthen walls with cut dry straw finish giving them the glow of yellow ochre. Mannari stones have been used for the exterior walls and solid teak adorns the floors throughout Damai.

SPA ESENCIA OPENS AT HYATT REGENCY TRINIDAD
Wellness and renewal combine to create an extraordinary spa experience
March 13, 2008 - The first Hyatt Pure spa in the Caribbean, Spa Esencia is open at the new Hyatt Regency Trinidad.
The Caribbean's newest business and leisure hotel offers a uniquely designed spa experience that maintains the festive environment of Trinidad. "Celebrations such as Carnival are such a bold and important part of our cultural experience,"
explained Spa Director Serena Rogers.
"Spa Esencia infuses the theme of celebration with pampering treatments to prepare, indulge, detox and retreat the body, mind and spirit. There is a Trinidad and Tobago influence in every aspect of the spa."
Inspired by the beauty of Trinidad and Tobago's colorful island environment, Spa Esencia is a natural reflection of the diverse
heritage and celebratory culture that gives Trinidad and Tobago its unique character. Indigenous treatment styles, materials and
scents such as eucalyptus, jasmine, lemongrass and Neroli create the ultimate emersion of Trinidad's natural elements. Spa Esencia's
unique approach focuses on a "daily celebration of the self." Menu selections are inspired by signature cultural events and rituals
such as Carnival fetes, Dimanche Gras and liming. To ensure an authentic approach to incorporating the lush environment of Trinidad,
Rogers and a team from the spa extensively toured the island with translators and local guides to learn about indigenous tribes,
extinct cultures, natural available materials and medicinal influences from South American, Native Caribbean and African cultures
that are now a part of the Trinidad & Tobago population. When designing the treatments, Spa Esencia's creators also researched and
considered different skin tones and textures to effectively cater to the many races and cultures represented in the local people
on-island.
RESTORE, CULTIVATE, AND CONNECT AT BLUE MARBLE
Hyatt Selects San Diego to launch Eco-Friendly Spa
San Diego, CA, June 1, 2007 - For thousands of years spas have helped solve personal beauty, health,
and wellness issues. Naturally, it only makes sense that today, given everything we know about the impact
we have on the planet, spas play an integral role in solving these issues on a global level. "We're all connected,"
says Blue Marble Spa™ Director Kyra Johnson. "By educating people on how to care for themselves and the planet,
we can reach new heights of wellness and connectivity and see beauty more clearly within us and all around us".
Named for 'The Blue Marble' the famous image of the earth taken from outer space during the Apollo 17 mission - an
image that shows both the beauty of the planet as well as the inherent fragileness of the earth amid the expanse of space -
Blue Marble Spa™ promotes life in harmony with nature by illuminating the natural beauty of the earth and its current need
for our immediate care. A place of incredible beauty and intelligent design, Blue Marble™ is a spa experience that will
exceed guests' expectations, dispensing with the myth that conservation can't go hand in hand with luxury.
